New Doctor in Treasure Cay
Treasure Cay: John G. Shedd, M.D. FACEP has established a practice of Family Medicine at the Corbett Medical Centre in Treasure Cay. He and his wife Cheryl, both central Floridians and long term homeowners on Green Turtle Cay, have purchased a home and will be residing in Treasure Cay.
Dr. Shedd graduated from Florida State University in 1975, received his M.D. from the University of Florida, College of Medicine in 1980, and completed his Family Practice Residency in 1983. He is Board Certified in both Family Emergency Medicine. His past positions include Directorships of the Emergency Departments of North Florida Regional Medical Centre and Florida Hospital Ormond and Chairman of the Department at Halifax Medical Center in Daytona Beach. He was also the Medical Director of Volusia County EMS.
Dr. Shedd, during his career, also served on the State Medical Directors Advisory Panel; the State EMS Advisory Council and the Board of Directors of the Florida Emergency Medicine Foundation. He is a past President of both the Florida State Association of EMS Directors and the Florida College of Emergency Physicians. He was honored as EMS Director of the Year for the State of Florida in 2004. He is planning to assist, as he can, in the training and development of First Responder skills in the Abacos.
John and Cheryl have two children, a son, John, in college at Rollins and a daughter, Summer, who is a professional horse trainer; both live in Florida. Cheryl, though not currently active, has ten years experience in OB/GYN and Prenatal Nursing. Their 14 years as part time residents of Green Turtle Cay demonstrates the enthusiasm they have for Abaco. John is a keen free diver and competitive swimmer. They are a great addition to the community.
